General
Any 1980 and newer front wheel drive car with “6” cylinders or less. No full frame cars. PT Cruisers are permitted. No other modifications will be permitted unless stated in the following rules. Cars must have a 12” by 12” roof sign with a clearly visible number from the stands. Cars must be painted in at least 50% contrasting color. There are zero gray areas in these rules. If it does not say you can do it, then it must stay stock.
Fresh Cars Only
You will be aloud (2) 4” by 4” by ¼” fix it plates prior to the show. Anything you cut off cannot be used anywhere else. These patches cannot be cut off and moved.
Stripping Car
All interior items except dash and necessary items (pedals/seats/shifter etc..) must be removed. Air bags must be removed or deactivated. All factory components including shifter must remain operational and in original location. No spray foam may be used. Wiring harnesses that are in front of core support may be relocated behind core support. Battery may be relocated inside of the car on floorboard. Wiring harness may be simplified. Carb conversions will be allowed with stock pedal. Catalytic converter and forward part of exhaust may stay in place. No using seatbelts or wire from roof to body. All glass must be removed from the car.
Hood
Hood must have 12" hole in the center of hood. The hood and trunk must be open for inspection. Hood and trunk may be wired shut in 6 spots sheet metal to sheet metal. (2 strands max) You may remove trunk lid completely if you choose.
Doors
Drivers door only must have a plate up to ¼” thick the entire door length/width. This may be welded and overlap door seams up to 2 inches on front fender and rear door. Doors must be wired or welded shut at 8 locations per door 2”x2”. Can only weld bottom of windows down.
Quarter panels/Trunk Lid
Rear quarters only can be creased. No cutting, wedging, bending any other sheet metal material. Quarters must remain vertical. Trunk may be wired shut in 6 spots only, sheet metal to sheet metal only. You can NOT go around the frame or bumper. Trunk lid must remain factory, you can cut it in half or remove it completely. Trunk lids can be dished but must remain on factory drip edge. Trucks also be folded down with a 90 degree bend in the center.
Window Wire
You may use #9 wire in the front/rear window area. This wire may only go from the roof to cowl in the front window and speaker deck to roof in rear window. No thicker than 4 total strands.
Bumpers & Core Support
Front bumpers may be replaced with any stock or aftermarket replacement bumper. No pointy’s permitted factory or replica. Replica bumpers will be allowed. Square tubing will also be permitted. 2” wide by 6” tall. if a point is added it may not exceed 7” to the point and must span over 30” from the middle of the bumper. (15” both ways) Crush boxes may be removed and bumpers hardnosed. A 5” by 5” by ¼” mounting plate may be used, this must be flat on the back side of the bumper. This is to give you a flat surface to mount to the frame. This is NOT a frame plate of any sort. Any factory or bolt together bumper
may be seam welded. No loaded or plated bumpers period. You may add (1) 3” by 3” by ¼” plate (Per side) welded from the front bumper to the frame. Must be welded flat on one side of the frame only. This will be measured from the back of the front bumper. Rear bumpers may be replaced with any 1980 and newer compact bumper only. Core support must stay in factory location and can not be altered at all. (cars with plastic core supports may replace the plastic portion with 2”x2” angle iron. May be welded with no more than 1in overlap.
Cage/Gas Tank
Rear seat bar and roll over bar are mandatory. No other cage component will be permitted besides a gas tank protector and what is defined below. A "simple" 4-point cage consisting of a dash bash, two sidebars, and a rear seat bar. 4" by 4" cage max. The cage must stay within the passenger/driver's compartment. Sheet metal to sheet metal only. The Dash bar must be 4" from any sheet metal. The sidebar can not go further forward than the dash bar or behind the rear seat bar. You may have (2) 10” by 10” mounting pads for this bar. Bar cannot be located any further back then 6 inches behind
the B pillar. (right behind seat) Gas tank protectors, in order to mount gas tank, may not be wider than 24” wide. Must be 4” off floor and 4” from rear package tray. One gusset per corner of cage; must be within 6” of the corner and meet all cage specifications. Anything welded vertical on gas tank protector must run straight up and down. Roll over bar must be mounted to rear seat bar and run straight up and down. It cannot be angled.
Rear Frame/Unibody
May be notched/dimpled but may not be rewelded.
Front/Rear Suspension
Spring risers may be used. 1 per strut. Car must bounce. Broken tie rods may be welded but no
adding steel or strengthening in any way will be permitted.
Gas Tanks
Gas tank must be moved inside of the car if they are located behind rear axle. Tanks must be made of steel/aluminum. Tanks must bolt in 4 locations to the floor or gas tank protector with a minimum of a 2" (max 4” by 4” by ¼”) washer on the underside of car. It may not strengthen that car in any way. All hoses must be double clamped at all connections. Electric fuel pumps must be operated by a switch that the passenger can shut off in case of a fire. You must paint switch prior to inspection.
Tires
After market tires are allowed. No solid tires permitted on the front. Solid tires are permitted on the rear. Doubling tires are allowed. Rims must be stock with no metal added to the rims other than small centers welded in. No bead-locks. 1” rim lip protectors are permitted. You are allowed small weld in centers and a valve stem protectors.
Rust
A phone call to the head inspector must be made prior to fixing any rust on body and/or frame. Head inspector will provide direction on how repairs are to be made. The conversation will be
documented. No car will be allowed to compete if rust repairs are made without having a pro-active conversation with head inspector. This rule will be strictly enforced.
Drivetrain
Headers will be permitted. Headers must point straight up out of the hood. No other modifications other than a general tune up.
