Car Choice
Any 1980 and newer cars. No hearses or limousines are permitted.
General
A 12 in. X 12 in. roof sign is mandatory for all cars at all times. Roof sign must be mounted on the car when inspected and also clear and legible. Cars must be stock unless stated below in the rules. Any aftermarket parts must be approved by the head inspector ( Robby Crittendon) if they are not identified directly in these rules. All welds on the car can be a maximum of 1⁄2 in. wide and 1⁄4 in. tall, single pass only. No clipping or re-stubbing of frames will be permitted. Body Swaps will not be permitted.
Stripping Car Rules
The following must be removed prior to entering inspection: the windows, headlights, taillights, all the chrome, and the mirrors. The interior must be swept clean of debris and glass. You must remove all glass, plastic, and fiberglass on the outside of the car including the plastic bumper covers. ALL AIRBAGS AND PUCKS MUST BE COMPLETELY REMOVED Under the hood you may take the plastic fender wells out. The battery must be moved to the passenger floorboard.
Front Frame
No frame shaping will be permitted unless otherwise stated. No welding of frame seams anywhere. Rails cannot be squeezed together or narrowed. Rails will be measured from side to side and compared to factory measurements. Center Frame No frame shaping will be permitted. No modifications on center rails beyond what is allowed to mount crossmember and seam welding stated in the front frame section will be permitted.
Rear Frame
No frame shaping will be permitted unless otherwise stated. No welding of frame seams anywhere. Rails cannot be squeezed together or narrowed. Rails will be measured from side to side and compared to factory measurements. The top of the rails can be dimpled or cut for bending purposes only and cannot be re-welded.
Front Suspension
Solid suspension is permitted. You may use (1) strap per a-arm 3 in. X 6 in. X 1⁄4 in. thick to make it solid. A-arm strap must stay complete, do not cut it up. Front springs (1 per side) must be factory OEM car springs, You may add screw in spring risers. Nothing will be permitted beyond this. A-arms must be an OEM factory from passenger car origin . A-arms are interchangeable but must be a direct bolt on to factory configuration with no modifications. Upper and lower ball joints must be for factory OEM cars but can weld in. Tie rods must be factory OEM. No aftermarket tie rods will be permitted. All cars must use the factory steering to the car, no exceptions.
Rear Suspension
No wire, chains, or any welding on the rear ends or the rear spring pockets beyond what is mentioned below. No solid rear suspension. You may stuff rear shocks with a rag for stiffness or change rear springs to factory OEM car springs and wire springs to the rear end to help hold them in. You may use (2) strands of doubled wire per spring. Watts conversion kits will not be permitted. You may run factory trailing arms with The Simple Solution trailing arm and watts kit. No air bag rear suspension. No leaf spring conversions.
Steering
Unless stated in rules, steering components must be of factory car origin, remain stock and mount in factory location. No aftermarket spindles are allowed. Spindles must be stock OEM car spindles. Spindles can not be reinforced in any way. An aftermarket stock steering column will be permitted.
Rear-End
Any gear is permitted. You must run the stock housing and axles for the make and model of the car. Rear end bracing is not permitted. May run pinion brake.
Cage
A Simple (4) Bar cage will be permitted. No cage material may be bigger than 4 in. X 4 in., unless specified. You are permitted a maximum of (1) 24 in. long gusset per corner of cage. The front bar must be 6 in. from the firewall. The rear seat bar cannot be further back than 12 in from the b-pillar. Side bars cannot run inside the doors except the driver's side. Cage cannot be connected to the frame or have down legs or kickers of any type. Door bars can be no bigger than 4 in. X 4 in. X 1⁄4 in. wall or 2 in. X 6 in. X 1⁄4 in. wall. Door bars must be 6 in. from the wheel well and firewall. You must have a rollover bar, but it must run straight across and can only be welded to the top side of the rear seat bar. Rollover bar may be bolted to the roof in (2) spots within 2 in. of the rollover bar using 3⁄8 in. hardware. You are permitted a gas tank holder off the back bar that can be no wider than 24 in. and must be 4 in. away from all sheet metal. No exceptions or you are not permitted to run. All cage material must be at least 6 in. higher than the body bolts.
Tires
Any tire and rim combos are permitted. Doubled tires are permitted. No foam filled tires or bead locks.
Body
Creasing of the body is permitted but it must be behind the back door on the quarter panels only. The quarter panels must stay the stock height of the car. You can fold the rear quarters under but do not squeeze them in or attach them to the rails or trunk pan. You may bolt the rear quarter around the rear wheel well in four places per side using ⅜ bolts. Shifter/Brake Pedal Bolt on shifters/and aftermarket brake pedals will be permitted. No Aftermarket throttle pedals. You can run a center cage bar no bigger than 2 in. X 2 in. for the purpose of mounting your shifter. NO gussets off center bar for any reason.
Hood
Hoods may be wired or chained in (8) spots and no more than (2) double stains of wire per spot. No exceptions! You may use (1) 5/16 in. chain per spot. It must be sheet metal to sheet metal only. No welding washers for holes. There must be a 12 in. hole in the hood in case of a fire. You must remove the hood latch. Hoods must be open for inspection.
Trunk
Trunk lid can be domed / dished or tucked. The deck lid and tailgate must be in the factory position on the car or it must be completely removed from the car. The quarter panels must stay the stock height of the car. If you remove the deck lid you are not permitted any wire for your trunk. (2) 8 in. X 8 in. inspection holes must be put in all deck lids within 2 in. of the center of the quarter panel rain channel. Trunks must be chained or wired in no more than (8) places and no more than (2) double stains of wire per spot. Two of these may go around the bumper and/or the frame. You cannot remove the speaker deck from the car. No welding or adding metal will be permitted. If the deck lid is welded, you will not run or you will cut the deck lid completely off with no exceptions. The deck lid is being measured 12 in. from the top of the rear quarter panels in the center of the deck lid in (3) spots starting from the back of the deck lid up.
Doors
The doors must be chained, wired or welded. If choosing chains or #9 wiring you will be permitted a maximum of (8) places per door and no more than (2) double stains of wire per spot. If you choose to weld the doors you may use 4 in. X 4 in. by 1/8 in. plates in a maximum (2) spots per door seam. In addition to any of these options you may use wire for the bottom of the doors may go around the frame. You may use 5/16 in. chain or (2) strands of #9 wire per spot. You must have a 1/8 in. door skin on the driver’s door - inner or outer. The outer door skin can only overlap the driver door gap by 3 in. You may also run an inner door skin only on the passenger side front door no thicker than 1/8 in. or similar material. No other doors may be welded or have washers or angle iron welded to them. No wire or straps can be attached from the roof to the floor in the rear seat area.
Wiring
A simplified wiring harness is permitted. If the car has a wiring harness in front of the core support, you may move it behind the core support. Body Mounts Do not touch the body mounts unless stated in the rules. All body mount bolts must be factory stock except the front (2) body mounts, and you can change (2) other body mount bolts for rust repair. (4 TOTAL ONLY) These body bolts can be changed to 1⁄2 in. bolt only NO EXTRA SPACERS!! You may change out the core support body mount to a hockey puck or metal tubing! A maximum of 3 in. X 3 in. X 3 in. tall or you will lose the spacer completely. If changed to metal tubing you can not weld spacer to the core support oy mount. Must stay floating.
Fuel Tank
Fuel tanks must be mounted securely inside your gas tank protector. Only fuel cells will be permitted, no boat tanks or stock fuel tank.
Drive Train
No cross breeding the entire drive line. It must be the same make as the car (Chevy to Chevy, Ford to Ford, etc). Stock exhaust or headers. The exhaust must be cut off. You are permitted to have Carbureted motors in bubble top cars. The engine must be mounted within 2 in. of its stock location. The engine motor mounts can be welded or bolted in. No homemade cross members. The cross member must be stock and bolted in, not welded. You are permitted an aftermarket aluminum radiator, but it must be bolted in like factory or held in with ratchet straps or #9 wire. No radiator protectors or holders are permitted. Stock drive shafts only, no sliders will be permitted. No trans coolers mounted inside the car. Trans cooler must be a factory style cooler in the factory location or under the hood.
Firewall/Window bar
You may cut the center of the fire wall away or cave the fire wall back RIGHT BEHIND THE DISTRIBUTOR ONLY!!! You can NOT run your front window bar down and connect them in any way to add strength because you cut the firewall. Both front and rear window bars are to be centered in the window areas. Front Window bar is to go from top 3 in. of the roof to the top side of the firewall. Rear Window bar is permitted to be welded the first 3 in. of the roof and the first 3 in. where the package tray meets the trunk, going towards the bumper. You are permitted a maximum of (1) 3 in. wide flat stock no more than 3/8 in. thick per front and back window.
Bumpers/Bumper Mounting
Loaded Factory OEM car bumpers or approved aftermarket bumpers will be permitted. No Chrysler Pointys or chrysler Replicas will be permitted. These bumpers are not permitted to have any embellish points or slants period. All bumpers may be seam welded only with the outer skin being beat down to the inner skin only. No sharp or jagged edges allowed anywhere on the bumper for safety reasons. You may also use bolt together aftermarket bumpers similar to TCJ/Adept/Limitless fab (7ga – Vic Replica) bumpers will be permitted. These bumpers may be seam welded and loaded. These bumpers can be no longer 60 in. You may collapse the shocks and weld all the way around the shock and to the mounting plate to the bumper and there must be a 1.5 in. gap between the frame and the factory bumper shock plate. The shock must be bolted in the factory location. You will not be permitted to add bumper shocks to the 03 and up. If hardnosed on the back side of the bumper where the bumper mounts, you may use a 1⁄4 in. X 6 in. X 6 in. piece of flat metal to create a flat mounting surface. Hard nosing is permitted but there must be a 1 in. gap between the front of the core support mounting bracket and the bumper plate. This will be measured from the front of the core support mounting bracket to the bumper plate. The front bumper cannot be any higher than 21 in. from the bottom of the bumper. The back bumper cannot be any lower than 14 in. from the bottom of the bumper to the ground. You may use a bumper flip plate or bumper shock - not both. Bumper flip plate can be welded and must only mount on the outside of the frame and can only go 1 in. past the bumper shock mounting bolt. 1⁄4 in. thick max
Fix-It Plates
Each car will be permitted (4) 6 in. X 4 in. X 1⁄4 in. plates prior to the show. Consi cars will be permitted (2) more plates. Feature cars will be permitted to have a total of (8) plates for all cars going into the feature. Any plates more than the four prior to the show will need to be purchased at the show. You can shape these plates. Anything you cut off you will lose. You will not be permitted to use these plates to touch or connect to the driveline in any car. These plates cannot be removed once they have been welded on the car.
Unlimited #9 wire will be permitted after your heat.
